Foxcroft Academy is an independent day and boarding school serving  400+ high school students from Maine and around the world. Located in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine (population 4,300), our campus is about 80 miles from the Bar Harbor, 125 miles from Portland, and 225 miles from Boston.

Foxcroft Academy has relied upon the generosity of others since its inception. The Academy was established as a private secondary school on January 30, 1823, and it became the first school to be chartered after Maine became a state. Upon receiving its charter, the legislature stipulated that the Academy must have at least $1500 in its possession. In 1823, the town’s appropriations for all municipal purposes amounted to a mere $1140, and neither the state nor its municipalities provided funds for secondary education. Philanthropic residents and Trustees stepped up and provided the necessary funds, and the rest is history.
 
At Foxcroft Academy, we are charged with preparing students for college, preparing them for the ever-changing 21st-century job market, and preparing them to become active, informed citizens. As distinguished educator Karl Fisch has noted: “We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented, to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet.” Work of this magnitude requires significant and ongoing support.

Foxcroft Academy is an independent boarding and day school for students in grades 9 - 12 and the postgraduate level. We provide numerous pathways to career and post-secondary success whether students are pursuing a 2 or 4-year college, the military, or the workforce.  We're accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and a member of the Independent School Association of Northern New England, the College Board, and the National Association of Independent Schools.

We know that every student's journey is different. That's why we offer tailored academic tracks and personalized support based on each students' individual needs, goals, and interests. Our ever-expanding curriculum empowers students to find and pursue their passions, through vast course offerings across Advanced Placement, Math and Science, Technical Education, Visual and Performing Arts, Humanities, World Languages, and so much more. To help our students further explore their post-secondary options, we've also partnered with several Maine colleges and universities to offer dual-enrollment agreements and community service opportunities.

Our location in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine offers up some of the freshest air, clearest skies, and greenest spaces around. In a setting like this, you can't help but broaden your horizons and see the world from new perspectives. Our scenic, 125-acre campus offers students a close-knit community setting, state-of-the-art facilities, and access to the surrounding pristine lakes, mountains, rivers, and woods for year-round New England adventures. Our state-of-the-art facilities blend classic and contemporary architecture and include four modern residence halls, five top-notch playing fields, four brand-new tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, and main academic complex.
 
Built on a Tradition of Trailblazing
As a pioneer in both standards-based academics and iPad integration in the State of Maine and an Apple Distinguished School, Foxcroft's innovative spirit continues to shine. In recent years, we've opened our doors to become a global student body, welcoming students from over 32 countries. And within the past decade, our athletic teams have secured 13 Maine state championships. With a longstanding history and tradition of success, many of our alumni have gone on to pursue degrees from over 60 schools in the nation's top 100 colleges. From our Academic Hall of Famers to an entire global network of distinguished alumni, we're proud to nurture an environment where students can follow in the footsteps of fellow trailblazers, or chart their own unique course.
